I sit here wondering if this is actually our government or simply one of those tasteless new reality shows. Of what am I speaking? The onslaught of the political ads we are now having to endure as a nation. I am completely aware that it is now less than a week from the midterm elections but I would like at the very least, to think that the american people really have better things to do with their time than wonder who's attending parties where there are playboy bunnies present. If you would like to know who's screwing who, all you have to do is take a gander at the Bush administration and their cohorts, and then look in the mirror. If anyone out their actually thinks any of these candidates are pandering to us you're as crazy as they are. They are caught up in their own little maniacal, narcissistic game and once again the public is just an audience to the sleazy antics. I'd like to put those little plastic yellow footprints on the floor that Miss Marianne used on Romper Room and point them all in the direction of the nearest cliff. Just start over fresh, brand new everything, a political "cleansing" if you will. I mean come on people, the teletubbies could handle things in our political parties better than this. Meanwhile, we should all give John Kerry a great big brownie button for opening his great big mouth in these most crucial days nearing the election. Where were his balls back in '04? Windsurfing I suppose. The GOP has, of course, jumped on Kerry's remark like rabid dogs and you can't go more than 10 minutes on any news cycle without seeing the infamous clip of Kerry over and over regardless of his clarification on the matter. Enough already. I hate to burden such amazing political minds with the "little" things, but in case the government and most of the talking heads have forgotten, our Americans are over in Iraq, compliments of Bush, getting killed everyday. I can't imagine how anyone fighting for this country right now would feel if they knew what a political circus their lives are being lost over. I certainly wouldn't want to be the one to show them. More good news, evidently China has convinced North Korea to come back to the 6 party talks. Oh goodie, more of our tax dollars at work! I mean, where else are they going to talk to everyone openly about how they will not be giving up their nuclear project? However flippant I may seem at times, the future of our constitutional government is at stake. This is one thing I am quite sure of and hopefully the American people realize as well. If we allow the same people that have now sentenced over 2800 of our american women and men to death in a war that never should have been and was a blatant lie, we may as well start getting our own affairs in order. We are now witnessing the slow death of a nation, our nation. The loss of human life, the loss of human rights, the loss of healthcare and the inevitable loss of social security. All being handed to you by an administration that speaks to us as if we have no right to question them because if we do, we are unpatriotic and on the sides of the terrorists. How dare you Mr.Bush. How dare you and your administration have the nerve to ask anyone that disagrees with you if we want America to win. Firstly, there has never been a question asked to Americans so unworthy of an answer. Secondly, I believe it was you all dressed up in a flight suit waisting more of our tax dollars declaring "mission accomplished". Last but not least, it's war Mr. Bush, not the game Battleship. No one wins, some of us just get to come home. In case you don't recall, and as of late you ususally don't, we are some of the same people that put you into that office you have become so fond of disgracing. Yet we were the ones lied to over and over again regarding Iraq so you could continue on with your own personal agenda. To hell with the American people that you took an oath to protect. If we do not stand together and make a change in our government in the midterm elections, we will have no right to question any of them because we will have once again, sat back and watched as what once was a nation that stood for freedom, now stands for freedom only for those who can afford it. And what once was the greatest nation in the world, will be just greatly disappointing.
I want to take this time to make something clear, very clear. George W. Bush is not a Texan. He was born in New Haven, Connecticut. Us real Texans take umbrage in the fact that we are associated with this placating moron & his so called "cowboy politics". (Real cowboys work twice as hard as the average joe therefore leaving the so called President out of luck taking into consideration he is completely unable to do his own job.) Also, if you happened to catch Bush's news conference this morning, there are barf bags available at Wrong Of The Right. Have a great day.
Tina
I am now under the firm belief that almost everyone in the USA has lost the map that led them to their common sense. This USA has opted to turn a blind eye to blatant reality. I kept open a path for hope for awhile, thinking that the corruption, now requiring waders simply to get from the hill to the white house, would replace the fear that seems to have paralyzed us as a nation. I was wrong. Evidently, there is a huge part of the population that still wishes their blinders to stay firmly in place,so as not to be spooked by anything else that may spill out of Bush's mouth, not to mention his administration. It seems Bush's administration and those that support it, are evidently relating the chaos in Iraq, the loss of precious life and the annihilation of the military to the old adage, 'If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, did it really fall?' These soldiers are falling, more and more each day and shame on you and your lies Mr. Bush. Everyday there are more bodies than the day before, more families that will fall apart, more useless death in a land where even America's presence has become useless, due to the civil war that has swallowed up what little of Iraq is still left. When, as a country, not a democrat or a republican, but as a country that still desires what little rights we have left, when will we rise up and say ENOUGH? When will we stop being led by fear and start protecting our children again? When will our "faith" once again lie in our hearts and our families and not in a government so congested with corruption that it's choking itself to death? Let me recap here for a moment. We invaded Iraq to be welcomed as liberators. Does anyone else find anything wrong in that sentence? I don't know about you, but as far as I know, the process of "liberation" does not require "invasion" and the last time someone welcomed me into a place, I was not shot at. However, we should without doubt believe things are getting better in Iraq despite statistics that prove the exact opposite and stick with that ridiculous "stay the course" saying, which is, well, just that, ridiculous. Meanwhile according to Bush, we should act like a 5 year old spoiled child who has just had a toy taken from him and refuse to sit down with the countries that are most detrimental to us, then still have the audacity to claim to be the great distributor of democracy. In the meantime North Korea fires off missiles on July 4th, has now been proven to have tested a nuclear weapon and is going to do it again and Bush sends Condi Rice over to Asia to have tea with the South Korean Prime Minister so we can all send North Korea a "firm" message. Let me say something about the USA's messages. They mean nothing to anyone of any importance anymore because of George W. Bush and his administration. We invaded and have now destroyed most of a country where there turned out to be no WMD's. Now that we know where some actually are and the country that has them has also directly threatened us with them, well we should let someone else handle that, because afterall, we have enough to do in Iraq. I would think this was a planet created for "The Far Side" if I came here from another world. Our senators are molesting our pages. Being a covert agent no longer has any meaning if Bush is pissed off over something your husband said or did. Congress no longer really matters and that old dusty Geneva Convention, well just disregard that, we won't torture anyone. Unless, of course, Bush says it's okay. Remember that thing called the Bill of Rights? Bush has decided that there was room for improvement on that too, so watch those emails and phone conversations. And my favorite, the real show stopper, no more Habeus Corpus. That's right friends, simply for having a radio show, a blog or God forbid, a page on MySpace, you too can be hauled in as a terrorist and not given any reason why or the right to a speedy trial, as long as Bush wags a finger your way. I literally sat here with my mouth open as most of the world ignored their loss of freedom simply because it "hadn't personally effected them yet". The operative word in that being "yet". Let's not forget, if you're on the left and asking for a timetable to stop the slaughter in Iraq , you are 'cut and run', but you Mr. Bush were the one that GAVE us a timetable when we went into Iraq. I'm sure that's something "you don't recall". We police the world from afar as the very ground that we hold sacred crumbles beneath us. We preach democracy at the end of a gun barrel and still gain no ground, just more loss of life and yet Mr. Bush, you sleep at night. Tell me, does Laura hit you over the head with a cast iron skillet or are you just extremely medicated? Because if it's not one of those two things Sir, it would mean you are a highly skilled sociopath or simply not human. I'm sure you have all noticed that this is not one of my fact-filled shows. Not many dates or many names, simply lots and lots of truth. This is no longer about what political party you are a part of. This is about maintaining what once was the greatest nation in the world, a place that was looked to for answers, not laughed at by leaders. If there was ever a time for change it is now. If there was ever a time that you could stand proud and say you did something for your country it's now and that little something you do by voting for change at the midterm elections, will allow you to explain to your children and grandchildren that because of you they still have all their rights and the mess this administration made of your country, you helped clean up by using common sense and good judgement, rather than recoiling and hiding in the fear provided for you daily by the Bush administration. Your only other option is to sit muttering to those same children seeking answers, "The land of the free? The home of the brave?", I remember something about that, a long, long time ago.
Once again the GOP has proven how concerned they are about Americans, the exception this time, our children, as we discovered over the weekend Florida's Republican Representative Mark Foley has resigned after being caught sending what the government is calling inaproppriate emails and instant messages to pages in congress. That's right boys and girls, when Bush said, "No child left behind," it seems that he meant it..left behind 'what' or 'whom' is what we need to ask ourselves. An example of the misuse of the word inaproppriate, one of the Instant Message's Foley sent out went something like this:
Foley: What are you wearing?
16 yr old boy: A t-shirt and shorts.
Foley: Sure would like to slip them off of you.
Then Foley goes on to ask the boy if he is horny & the boy replies, "A little."
Wouldn't it be nice and ironic if the same illegal wire and email tapping forced upon the public was the same the same thing that got this sick pedifilic bastard caught? Want a little more irony? This is the same man that helped write and bring into law the Crimes Against Children Act. He now of course has checked himself into rehab where he is blaming his actions on alcohol. How convenient. If it was you or I or for that matter, a left-winger, we would be in jail.
Just to put the icing on the cake for you here, House Speaker Dennis Hastert knew of these "inappropriate" emails from the congressman to pages months ago and simply slapped him on the wrist, told him never to do it again and went skipping down the hall to his office, all in the name of, "Oh my God, it's way too close to the elections for this to leak out." After the media got a hold of the story, of course, Hastert is acting outraged, calling Foley disgusting and getting the state of Florida and the FBI involved. I think Hastert needs to take a good look in the mirror. Being a perpetrator of something this horrific is one thing, being the enabler to a perpetrator as Hastert has been is abhorrant and, of course, the one thing we can always count on, Bush claims to have never known anything about it.
Meanwhile, back in Iraq, the violence has continued to increase more and more each day, as we all sit back and listen to Bush, Rumsfeld and Cheney talk about how they're just getting ready to purchase summer homes over in Baghdad because things are so damn chipper. Bob Woodward has once again rocked the world with his new book "State of Denial", it of course goes much further than what Bush so graciously allowed us to view when the NIE was partially released, which said, and I quote, "The war in Iraq has exacerbated terrorism making America, in fact, less safe than it was before the invasion of Iraq and before 9/11. Snow's attempt to spin this was amusing at best, as I sat watching Tony Snow trying to spin the same question over and over again. And when I say that I mean it. I was watching it live on CNN and even they broke from it after the same question about safety in the US had been spun 10 ways from Sunday and still said the same thing, WE ARE NOT SAFER. Three out of five people in Iraq would like us, now grasp this firmly folks, either KILLED or out of their country, at least half a million Iraqi's have been displaced from their homes. In the months of July and August their were more than 3000 Iraqi civilians killed and now, in September, 6000 more. So, while Kalilzhad claims it's all sectarian violence and that terrorism has been weakened, Major Gen. William Caldwell says this past week was the worst yet for all types of violence and for the death toll in Iraq, hmm..wonder who we should believe, Kalilzhad who still has a little spot of excrement on his forehead after removing it from Bush's lower orifice or the guy with boots on the ground with nothing to lose but his job for speaking out and more of his troops. Our troops. Our Americans fighting a meaningless war, yet losing precious lives, more and more each day. It's hard to believe there are people out there that will still stand behind this administration when hell, even Rumsfeld won't return Condi Rice's calls any longer. Should we worry? Nahhhhhh..I'm sure Bush will keep us safe and sound and if you are the least bit concerned about Bush and our safety, don't be!. He has Kissinger to advise him now and we all know what a fantastic job he did in Vietnam! All I can say is, once again we have taken our eye off the ball because as Bush holds hands with Musharaff and Karzai and talks about how we all need to hold hands, be brothers and have cookies and milk together, Iran is sitting back laughing in our faces. As long as they can distract us with the use of other countries, they will. In the meantime, that uranium just gets richer and those same countries we are courting are spending their leisure time in a summit in Havana basically deemed the "We Aren't Putting Up with America's Imperialist Bullshit Attitiude Any Longer" summit. I actually think they should have invited Bush, he could have given them more ammo, if not verbally..well then, actually. To end this show on a bit of a lighter note, many kudos to President Clinton for reverting to "I'm mad as hell & i'm not going to take it anymore". I was enthralled as I always am with his speaking. This time, by the way he defended himself in an elegant manner, with verve and integrity. More than anything and most of all with the truth. There my friends, are several words strung together in one sentence involving this particular president - "verve and truth and integrity", we will NEVER be able to use as long as this administration is in power. May the higher powers help us all. (If Kool-Aid is involved my gut feeling is to pass.)
