I am now under the firm belief that almost everyone in the USA has lost the map that led them to their common sense. This USA has opted to turn a blind eye to blatant reality. I kept open a path for hope for awhile, thinking that the corruption, now requiring waders simply to get from the hill to the white house, would replace the fear that seems to have paralyzed us as a nation. I was wrong. Evidently, there is a huge part of the population that still wishes their blinders to stay firmly in place,so as not to be spooked by anything else that may spill out of Bush's mouth, not to mention his administration. It seems Bush's administration and those that support it, are evidently relating the chaos in Iraq, the loss of precious life and the annihilation of the military to the old adage, 'If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, did it really fall?' These soldiers are falling, more and more each day and shame on you and your lies Mr. Bush. Everyday there are more bodies than the day before, more families that will fall apart, more useless death in a land where even America's presence has become useless, due to the civil war that has swallowed up what little of Iraq is still left. When, as a country, not a democrat or a republican, but as a country that still desires what little rights we have left, when will we rise up and say ENOUGH? When will we stop being led by fear and start protecting our children again? When will our "faith" once again lie in our hearts and our families and not in a government so congested with corruption that it's choking itself to death? Let me recap here for a moment. We invaded Iraq to be welcomed as liberators. Does anyone else find anything wrong in that sentence? I don't know about you, but as far as I know, the process of "liberation" does not require "invasion" and the last time someone welcomed me into a place, I was not shot at. However, we should without doubt believe things are getting better in Iraq despite statistics that prove the exact opposite and stick with that ridiculous "stay the course" saying, which is, well, just that, ridiculous. Meanwhile according to Bush, we should act like a 5 year old spoiled child who has just had a toy taken from him and refuse to sit down with the countries that are most detrimental to us, then still have the audacity to claim to be the great distributor of democracy. In the meantime North Korea fires off missiles on July 4th, has now been proven to have tested a nuclear weapon and is going to do it again and Bush sends Condi Rice over to Asia to have tea with the South Korean Prime Minister so we can all send North Korea a "firm" message. Let me say something about the USA's messages. They mean nothing to anyone of any importance anymore because of George W. Bush and his administration. We invaded and have now destroyed most of a country where there turned out to be no WMD's. Now that we know where some actually are and the country that has them has also directly threatened us with them, well we should let someone else handle that, because afterall, we have enough to do in Iraq. I would think this was a planet created for "The Far Side" if I came here from another world. Our senators are molesting our pages. Being a covert agent no longer has any meaning if Bush is pissed off over something your husband said or did. Congress no longer really matters and that old dusty Geneva Convention, well just disregard that, we won't torture anyone. Unless, of course, Bush says it's okay. Remember that thing called the Bill of Rights? Bush has decided that there was room for improvement on that too, so watch those emails and phone conversations. And my favorite, the real show stopper, no more Habeus Corpus. That's right friends, simply for having a radio show, a blog or God forbid, a page on MySpace, you too can be hauled in as a terrorist and not given any reason why or the right to a speedy trial, as long as Bush wags a finger your way. I literally sat here with my mouth open as most of the world ignored their loss of freedom simply because it "hadn't personally effected them yet". The operative word in that being "yet". Let's not forget, if you're on the left and asking for a timetable to stop the slaughter in Iraq , you are 'cut and run', but you Mr. Bush were the one that GAVE us a timetable when we went into Iraq. I'm sure that's something "you don't recall". We police the world from afar as the very ground that we hold sacred crumbles beneath us. We preach democracy at the end of a gun barrel and still gain no ground, just more loss of life and yet Mr. Bush, you sleep at night. Tell me, does Laura hit you over the head with a cast iron skillet or are you just extremely medicated? Because if it's not one of those two things Sir, it would mean you are a highly skilled sociopath or simply not human. I'm sure you have all noticed that this is not one of my fact-filled shows. Not many dates or many names, simply lots and lots of truth. This is no longer about what political party you are a part of. This is about maintaining what once was the greatest nation in the world, a place that was looked to for answers, not laughed at by leaders. If there was ever a time for change it is now. If there was ever a time that you could stand proud and say you did something for your country it's now and that little something you do by voting for change at the midterm elections, will allow you to explain to your children and grandchildren that because of you they still have all their rights and the mess this administration made of your country, you helped clean up by using common sense and good judgement, rather than recoiling and hiding in the fear provided for you daily by the Bush administration. Your only other option is to sit muttering to those same children seeking answers, "The land of the free? The home of the brave?", I remember something about that, a long, long time ago.
